RocketFish offers a wide variety of computer, gaming, mobile device and home AV accessories. The company’s iPhone 4 lineup currently includes two cases that are available through Best Buy. This review focuses on the company’s RocketFish Mobile silicone case for the Apple iPhone 4.

Appearance:

The RocketFish Mobile RF-WR1001 is a silicone case that has a soft, matte exterior. The inside of the case has a grid design that provides cushioning, although this design does add a bit of bulk to the device.

Overall the Mobile RF-WR1001 is quite plain, and while it doesn’t detract significantly from the iPhone 4’s look, it’s not a very innovative or memorable design, either.

The case is available only in black.

Durability:

The Mobile RF-WR1001 is made of durable silicone that’s reinforced with an inner grid design. This should help to reduce stretching over time. We don’t see any major durability issues with this case.

Usability:

The Mobile RF-WR1001 slides easily around the iPhone 4. The case has a loose fit, and the sides and corners of the case peel of the iPhone 4 much too easily.

The case’s soft, textured exterior provides a good grip around the iPhone 4. However, you can feel the case wiggle and give when you hold it tightly.

The case covers the iPhone 4’s volume and hold buttons, but these were easy to press through the case. The Mobile RF-WR1001 does make it a bit tough to access the ring/silent rocker, especially if you have large fingers.

Protection:

The Mobile RF-WR1001 provides good protection for the iPhone 4’s sides and back. The case will resist scratches and scrapes, and the case’s grid design provides cushioning against drops and falls. The case also has a ledge which prevents the iPhone 4 from coming into direct contact with surfaces below.

As previously mentioned, the case’s sides and corners peel off the iPhone 4 very easily. This can expose the device to damage, especially if you keep the device in a pocket or a bag.

Overall:

The Mobile RF-WR1001 is a basic silicone case for the iPhone 4 that has a simple look and design. The case’s exterior provides a good grip, and the cases inner grid design provides good cushioning against falls.

However, the loose fit of the Mobile RF-WR1001 is a major downside of this case. You can feel this loose fit when holding the iPhone 4, and the sides and corners of the case peel off easily, potentially exposing the iPhone 4 to damage.

At $16, the Mobile RF-WR100 isn’t exactly expensive, but it is more costly than other cases that we’ve reviewed that fit the iPhone 4 much better. Overall, we give this case two stars.
