Speck updates CandyShell iPhone 4 case to fit Apple docks
Speck’s popular line of CandyShell cases for the Apple iPhone 4 is getting an upgrade. The company’s new CandyShell Flip case is similar in appearance to the previous CandyShell model, with one big exception – the CandyShell Flip will fit in Apple’s iPhone 4 dock.
As you can see above, the bottom of the CandyShell Flip can fold open, thereby allowing the iPhone 4 to fit in standard docks. Once the phone is removed from the dock, the bottom of the case snaps back into place around the bottom of the device.
It’s a simple, yet useful design change that will be a big relief for users who need to constantly install and remove their iPhone 4 cases when docking the device. You can pick up a CandyShell Flip directly from Speck for $35.

iPhone 4 users should probably pick up a Micro SIM adapter
iPhone 4 and iPad 3G users have probably noticed that their devices rely on a undersized SIM card called a Micro SIM. Now, if you don’t switch phones and you don’t plan to travel abroad, you probably are just fine – in fact, you’ll probably never even see your Micro SIM card.
But if, like many of us, you like to swap your SIM card between phones, the Micro SIM card becomes a problem since most phones use regular-sized SIM cards. I ran in to this problem recently when trying to rent a phone in Japan – Micro SIMs may mean you’re out of luck.
Unless you get a Micro SIM adapter. This tiny piece of plastic doesn’t cost much, but will really save your hide in those few occasions when you’re stuck with a Micro SIM card and a normal SIM card slot. You can pick one up from Amazon for just $6.
XShot’s iPhone 4 tripod case does away with the blurry, one-handed self photo
We’ve all taken iPhone self portraits…you know, the ones where you hold the iPhone as far from your face as you can while also trying to push the shutter button. And after all that work how many self portraits actually come out looking decent?
XShot wants to make life easier for iPhone photographers with their XShot iPhone 4 Case with Detachable Tripod Adapter. This innovative case features a detachable tripod adapter, below, that quickly attaches to the lower left side or bottom of the case. Once installed, you can attached the XShot iPhone 4 case to the included mini tripod, above left. XShot also offers long-armed monopods for areas where a tripod won’t work, above right.
When not in use, the small adapter can be stowed away, while the XShot iPhone 4 case’s hard plastic exterior provides protection from scratches, scrapes and bumps.
You can preorder the XShot iPhone 4 case here for $25. This package includes the case, tripod mount, and mini tripod. XShot will begin shipping at the end of November.
Ballistic SG case for the Apple iPhone 4 features three layers of protection
Need a rugged case for your iPhone 4 that won’t add too much bulk to the device? Ballistic’s SG case seems like a good option. The case offers three layers of protection – a soft TPU outer layer, a hard polycarbonate middle layer, and a silicone inner layer. Additionally, the case’s corners are reinforced with shock absorbers to protect your phone from falls.
We’ll try to get one of these units in for a review soon. Until then, you can surf on over to Ballistic’s site to read more.
